Hello, I’m Dr. Sarah Forcey. I have a PhD in Counseling Psychology and I am a Licensed Psychologist in the state of Colorado. I am currently working at Mayfield Counseling Centers.
During my PhD training, I worked in a university counseling center, a community mental health clinic, and a veterans health care system. I have experience working with people facing many different types of mental health concerns including depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, trauma, grief, relationship concerns, adjustment issues, and identity issues.
Licensed Psychologist, Colorado PSY.0004857
Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology, Texas A&M University
M.Ed. in Educational Psychology, Texas A&M University
B.A. in Psychology and Linguistics, Rice University
I am a Third Culture Kid (TCK). If you’ve never heard of that it means I grew up in a culture that was not my parents’ culture. For me that looked like growing up in Taichung, Taiwan from age 8 to 18. Because of my experience there, I have a love for Asian food, can speak some Mandarin Chinese, and love connecting with others who have lived in another culture or moved around many times. I am so interested in TCKs and nomads that for my dissertation I developed a Measure of Global Mobility, even though it took me an extra year to complete such an extensive project. My Measure of Global Mobility can measure how much experience a person has connecting with life in different countries, different regions of a country, and different towns or cities within a region.
I love being outdoors hiking, cycling, laying in a hammock, or playing ultimate frisbee. I also enjoy singing, reading, and spending time with family.
I offer individual counseling, couples counseling, group counseling, and psychological evaluation (clinical personality assessment, ADHD/learning disability testing, and bariatric surgery evaluations). I work primarily with adolescents and adults.
If you are interested in working with me I’d love for you to contact me so I can answer any questions you have!
